40% of Scots believe they’re good without god. That’s the official number of people who are non-religious in Scotland. But the HSS believes that number is wrong. The UN Special Rapporteur on Faith and Belief estimates the true figure as 66%. That’s two-thirds of the Scottish population. This is important, because Government policy in many areas is based on what the Census tells them about religious belief.
